Ownership Options

Individual Ownership - Owning a horse entirely yourself can be very rewarding.  This is the most common type of ownership.  As the sole owner, you are instrumental in choosing the particular horse.  You design and register your own colors to be worn by the jockey.  If the horse is purchased as a youngster,  you may be able to name it yourself.  Individual owners have much more control over the management of the horse's career.

Company Ownership - Your company can own and run a racehorse in it's name.  You might arrange a lunch with business associates at the races on a day that your horse is running.

Partnerships - There are many types of partnerships.  Their specifics vary. An example of the economics our partnerships follows.  Your monthly expenses are determined by the number of shares purchased.  For each 1% share you pay a fixed rate of $15.99 per month.  This covers all normal expenses on the horse.  Feed, bedding, training, rider, groom, blacksmith and normal supplements, (not those prescribed for therapy, but those for normal upkeep, like vitamins, electrolytes and corn oil).  Shipping to and from the farm is included in the day rate.  Although a shuttle is available within Maryland, all of my horses are transported to the races via private van.  This is also included in the day rate.  All other shipping expenses and  veterinarian expenses are not included in the day rate.

Should your horse require a rest period, the fee drops to $5.40 for each 1% share per month.  You are not billed for the first 30 days of ownership.

An example follows:  Imagine you are buying in to a $10,000.00 horse.  Purchase 10% of the partnership and pay $1,000.00.  Normal monthly expenses will be $150.00 per month.  There's very little veterinary expense until the horse running.  Normal vet bills for a horse that's not racing would be $150.00 per month at most.  Your share would be $15.00.

You'll become a licensed owner with all of it's privileges.  Gain admittance to the track at no cost; park in the Owner's and Trainer's lot.  Most importantly, you'll enjoy the excitement of owning a racehorse.

In some cases, I'm willing to participate in partnerships with individual owners.

If you have any questions, please call me.  I'll be happy to accommodate you.
